Happy National Napping Day! After the time change on Sunday, we're all probably feeling a little more tired than usual. Here's your sign to give yourself the gift of extra rest today!

Our bodies are constantly sending us signals about what they need. The ability to notice and respond to these signals is called interoception. Developing this skill can bring a range of benefits, including healthier eating habits, better emotional awareness, and a greater ability to self-regulate.

Here are some simple tips to help you tune in to your body every day:

🌬️ Notice your breath: Take a moment to observe its qualities—is it deep or shallow? Can you feel it in your belly as you breathe in and out?

💓 Feel your heartbeat: Place your hand over your heart and pay attention to the sensation. Once you’ve connected with the rhythm, see if you can still feel your heart beating, even without your hand on your chest.

🧘‍♀️ Do a body scan: Take a few moments to mentally scan your body, starting from your toes and working your way up, or vice versa. Pay attention to any areas of tension and allow them to relax as you focus on each part.

❔ Put a name to what you're feeling: Throughout the day, pause to assess any emotions or sensations you’re experiencing. Try to name them, if you can. This simple awareness is the first step in offering your body and mind the support they need.
