Romancing the Self: Body, Mind & Spirit
Here in the Midwest, February can be a rather gloomy month. We’re past the holidays, over the initial hype of the New Year, and waiting for glimpses of Spring. There’s holiday bills, taxes, and more snow and cold in the forecast. Overall, I’m thankful it’s a short month.
However, if you’re a romantic, Valentine’s Day can shed a little light on to the next 28 days. This is more about the spirit of love versus the commercial celebration of Valentine’s Day. While the history of Valentine’s Day is unclear, it’s a good time to bring a little romance into your life – mind, body and spirit.
Romance is not just about Hallmark cards, flowers and candies. Romance is the excitement and mystery of love – for yourself and others. This month, spend some mindful time appreciating the mystery and excitement of just being alive. It’s a good way to re-ignite and nurture those intentions you created in January. Here are some ideas:
- Bring some energy to the body with a massage or Reiki.
- Romance the body into stillness with slower yoga practice.
- Notice the mystery of the mind with meditation.
- Nurture the spirit through giving from the heart – kind words, a smile, anything that is authentic and kind.
May it warm your heart!
Namaste,
Julie
