Sometimes after a hard day, it can be hard to find love for ourselves. Maybe we did something that we know wasn’t smart or kind that day, and we are still upset or stewing over it. Whatever the reason may be, it is hard to live with someone you don’t like, this includes yourself. It is important to sit down, reflect, and find that love for ourselves. But sometimes it can be a little hard, so we need some help. It is important to integrate some quick, easy self-love practices into your routine.
For example when you wake up in the morning, before your day, look at yourself in the mirror. Pick one thing that you like about your appearance. Is it the color of your eyes, the texture of your hair, or the way you smile? Whatever it is, pick a physical feature that you admire or just like about yourself. Next, keep looking in the mirror. Look deeper into yourself. Look beyond your face, limbs, and see the real you. You can acknowledge your flaws, and note that there is room for improvement. But more importantly, find something about your personality that you admire. Is it your humor, your intellect, or your eccentricness? It could be a million different things for every one of us. When looking in the mirror, it is important to see beauty in your assets and also your imperfections.
Another way to practice self-love, is empowering yourself in different ways. Focus on the way you stand. Make sure your shoulders are back, your back is straight, and your eyes look directly in front of you. Research shows that a confident stance, can influence the success rate in little things in life. When you are feeling down, remind yourself of the qualities you appreciate the most. Look for those qualities in others, and remember that everyone is different but still equal. Self-love is an important ingredient in the recipe for a happy, healthy life.
